Deadline for Outstanding Citizens Nominations

Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their contributions to community and commerce in Hancock County? The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for Outstanding Citizens.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, August 8th.If you would like to nominate someone, application forms are available at the Chamber office or call 467.9048 to receive the form by e-mail.
To complete your nomination, you will need to provide a description of the nominees contributions to the community and the impact of those contributions. You will also want to provide examples of the nominees leadership skills and commitment to improving the quality of life in Hancock County.

The ten finalists will be announced as the Top 10 Outstanding Citizens in Hancock County. From this field, one will be selected as Citizen of the Year. The honor will be presented at the Annual Awards Gala on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 at Hollywood Casino.

Last year, the Chamber and the community recognized Alicein and Martin Chambers, owners of the Mockingbird Cafe in Bay St. Louis, as Citizens of the Year for 2006. The 2005 Citizen of the Year Award went to the Katrina Volunteers.

The 2008 Gala theme is A Salute to Progress in Hancock County. NASA will be recognized for 50 years of national service. The evening will begin at 5:30pm with a cocktail reception and business-to-business networking. Later during the awards presentation, guests will enjoy a spectacular dinner prepared and served by the professional staff of Hollywood Casino.

Reservations forms for the event are available through the Chamber. Deadline to reserve a table or seat is August 15th.

Other awards to be presented at the Gala are Businesses of the Year, Tourism Person of the Year, Industry of the Year and Award of Excellence for Industry.
