David A Treutel Jr from Bay Saint Louis was honored with the “4 Ever Young” Award by the Coast Young Professionals (CYP) at the recent Black Tie & Blue Jeans Gala held in Biloxi. CYP honors professionals who have distinguished themselves by actively contributing to the betterment of the community by promoting a positive attitude and unyielding desire to enhance quality of life, striving to unite the region in collaborative efforts for future prosperity, serving as an exemplary role model to young professionals, taking an effective and vigorous leadership role in the community, and making significant contributions in chosen field of endeavor. In keeping with the theme, the recipients wore blue jeans accompanied by black tie and formal jackets. Treutel received a personalized caricature to commemorate the award and stated “This is the funnest award I have ever received!”.

“WISH YOU WERE HERE” TELEVISION SPOTS TO LAUNCH JULY 14 FOR MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST TOURISM
A new Mississippi Gulf Coast tourism television spot is set to hit the airwaves July 14. The television spot, “Wish You Were Here,” is the highlight of an aggressive, multi-platform, tourism campaign running in 15 regional markets, including Atlanta, Tampa-St. Petersburg and Memphis, with a media budget of $4.2 million.
This effort is Phase Two of a $15-million campaign being administered by the Mississippi Development Authority from funds provided by British Petroleum. The campaign was inspired by Mississippi Gulf Coast singer, songwriter and pianist Alva “Allie” Leigh and her single, “Skyline.” The key lyric, “Wish You Were Here,” is the driving message throughout the comprehensive tourism campaign.
The “Wish You Were Here” campaign will include promotions and contests, including eleven “Wish and Win” giveaways. The campaign is mounted across multiple platforms – television, radio, web, YouTube and social networks Facebook and Twitter. The campaign also utilizes mobile texting.
The “Wish You Were Here” campaign and promotional information can be found at www.visitmscoast.org. This website also features a series of destination video reports, typically three each week, reporting Gulf Coast events. The video reports can also be found on YouTube.

Art for the Gulf
The artists of Gallery 220 and Clay Creations is hosting an evening of live music and fantastic art on Wednesday, July 28 from 5-7 PM in the historic building on the corner of Toulme and Main Street in Old Town Bay St. Louis, MS. The event will feature music by Rochelle Harper and Boz, as well as by Nonie Johns. A $5 donation at the door entitles visitors to beer and sangria, hor d’oeuvres, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a piece of art by Lori K. Gordon. There will also be a silent auction of works of art by Michelle Allee, Meg Henson, Regan Carney, Pam & Sid Yoder, Carole Bowman, Zita Waller, Judy Lee, Jenise McCardell, Spencer Gray Jr., Julie Nelson, Ann Kearney, Mark Currier and Scott Blackwell.
Proceeds from the benefit will support the Pascagoula River Audubon Center’s volunteer efforts on the coast, including the newly established Coastal Bird Monitoring Program.
Lori K Gordon, organizer of the event, states that the artists who show their work at 220 Main Street wanted to do their part in helping the coast recover from the disastrous BP oil spill. Recently, she was contacted by Leslie Wilson of Americana Media, who will be filming the event for “Top Kill”, a documentary which gives a voice to the people who have been affected by the situation. Americana Media has produced significant films, including the award-winning Katrina documentary “Mississippi Son”, which has received rave reviews and has been distributed internationally.
