Frequently Asked Questions about the Hancock County Speaker ’s Bureau.
How far in advance should I contact the speaker?
Allow 7-10 days when planning a speaker. Many of the speakers may be able to
respond more quickly, but it’s best to allow at least one week.
What information should I give the speaker when I contact him/her about
speaking to my group?
- If you have specific expectations of the Speaker, be clear about what they
are. (Target Audience, Length of presentation, specific points to cover,
etc.)
- Ask the Speaker if there is anything you need to provide, such as an LCD
projector, copies, specific set-up, microphone, etc.)
How do I join the Hancock County Speaker’s Bureau?
To join the Hancock County Speaker’s Bureau, please complete the Speaker
Information Profile and return it to the Hancock Chamber. It will be reviewed by
the selection committee and, once approved, your profile will be added to the
Bureau. Keep in mind that the selection committee may ask for references and may opt not to include your profile if the topics will not benefit to educational
community of Hancock County.
Is there a fee for using the Speaker’s Bureau?
The Hancock County Speaker’s Bureau does not allow its participants to charge a
fee, nor does the Bureau collect an honorarium. However, it is acceptable to
provide small gifts if you wish, although it is not required.
Do you have to be in Hancock County to access the Speaker’s Bureau?
The Speakers participating in the Hancock County Speaker’s Bureau have agreed
to provide presentations within Hancock County. If you are outside of Hancock
County and requesting a speaker, it is appropriate to provide reasonable travel
expenses.
What if I need a speaker on a topic that is not listed, or have suggestions for other
topics?
Any and all feedback related to the Speaker’s Bureau is needed and requested.
